Dr Stavrou is a specialist orthopaedic surgeon with a particular interest in arthritis and sports disorders involving the knee, foot and ankle. Procedures offered include total ankle replacement as well as patient specific instrumentation for total knee replacement.
After completing his orthopaedic training in Adelaide, Dr Stavrou undertook further training in foot and ankle as well as sports surgery in Toronto, Canada and then Brisbane.
He is actively involved in research and has presented at local, national and international meetings.
Dr Stavrou is involved in teaching of medical students as well as future orthopaedic surgeons, he supervises a fellowship providing further subspecialty training for international orthopaedic surgeons. He also coordinates and provides training for orthopaedic surgeons in total ankle replacement.
In 2006, Dr Stavrou was awarded the travelling fellowship by the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society, enabling him to visit centres of excellence in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and Vancouver.
